Amazon Music Storage Is Shutting Down

For all those users who use Amazon Music service, we have to give you bad news. As recently Amazon has taken the decision to put an end to the journey of Amazon Music Storage. Moreover, not many details have been offered about the reasons that led Amazon to take this decision.

However, what we can say will be at the end of next month when the service is closed. Users should bear in mind that, together with the closing, all the files of the service will be deleted.

This has been reported by the company to users through an email that has been sent throughout this week. If you still have a track stored in this service, you have until the 30th of next month to download. From that day on, it is unknown what date will be chosen to carry out the erasure. What is certain is that from the chosen day, no user will be able to access their storage space again.

The Amazon Music Storage service was born as an alternative to Spotify. It was a service that was cloud-based, as the free version allowed the upload of up to 250 songs. However, during the last month of December, the service did not allow the upload of any track. Respecting the contents that were already uploaded and still accessible.

That change in operation already predicted a possible closure or modification of the operation.

Before continuing, it is important to indicate that the Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited services are not affected by these changes. This means that they will continue operating as they have done so far.

This is the message that has been sent to users:

“Amazon Music is retiring the Music Storage service, which allows customers to upload and store up to 250 songs in a personal cloud library. Our records indicate you have uploaded one or more songs through your Amazon account in the past.

To keep, download, and play your uploaded songs at no extra cost, simply open a web browser, go to your Music Settings and click the “Keep my songs” button to direct us to save your music to the cloud. Otherwise, your uploaded songs will be removed from your library on April 30, 2018.

Your Amazon Music digital purchases will continue to remain securely stored for playback and download — no further action is required to retain those. These changes will not impact your ability to stream Prime Music or Amazon Music Unlimited.”

As it can be seen, the reasons are not explained nor is this information allowed to be glimpsed.

What is the difference between a direct and an indirect address instruction ?

Direct addressing means the instruction refers directly to the address being accessed. That is, the instruction encoding itself contains the address of the location. Depending on the instruction set, it may also allow computing a small index relative to the address. When used that way, you can think of that as a direct-indexed mode. (Note: Some processors call ‘direct’ mode ‘absolute’, such as the 6502.)   Indirect addressing uses an address held in a register or other location to determine what memory location to read or write. The idea here is that the instruction itself isn’t directly telling you the address to access, but rather indirectly telling the CPU where to find that address. The processor may also allow you to add a small offset to the indirect address, giving an indirect-indexed addressing mode.
